"Hallo Sandra, I have been taking part in the 30 day overland tour from Johannesburg to Nairobi in June/July this year (Actually I have joined the group at the Vic Falls.) guided by Anthony. As we had not had the chance to fill out a questionnaire at the end of our tour I would like to let drifters know how excellent the tour has been. Africa has hit me. The nature, the vegetation and the animals we have seen on the trip were just amazing. I have seen one of the most beautiful sunsets ever. Once driving through the Luangwa Valley NP our Landrover has stopped right next to a male lion relaxing on the ground while the female lions and cubs were eating a dead elephant. The canoe tour on the zambezi river where we have been surrounded by hippos has also been a highlight. I will never ever forget all the wonderful, astonishing experiences we have made on the tour. I have absorbed it. Thanks also to Anthony. Although we have had some trouble with the truck he has always find a solution to every problem. He has put a lot of energy and patience in trying to get everything fixed and to minimize the inconvenience for the group. Even the night we were stuck close to the border of Tansania and Colin came to get us (thanks to him, too), we have had a good time, sitting on top of the truck looking to the stars and listening to him playing the guitar. Now being back in Cologne I have a hard time to adjust to everyday routine. I still miss the wideness, the wilderness, the campfire we have had every evening and this special feeling you have to explore yourself by traveling through Africa. All in all this trip far exceeded my expectations!! Your suggestion of getting there a few days early and leaving there a day after the tour was perfect. It gave me a chance to get to know Cape Town and see a bit of Johannesburg.
The part of the tour which has had the most impact was Zimbabwe..the empty shops..the lack of basic things..the people starving. I gave away alot of clothing and food ..in fact all our group did.
You were right in that now I do plan to go back to Africa and maybe in the near future try another overland trip somewhere else maybe South America.

I filled in such a nice feedback form (..it took me 4 hours, right Eugene? ;-) but instead of handing in that piece of paper to the drifters-office I rather took it back to Europe with me where it is most usable... However, by doing this, I'm letting now even the whole world know what an impression I got from the trip and our guides Eugene & Julie...
Are you thinking about booking that trip?? Gofor it -just peeerfect to get away from it all (too perfect.. I've got hassles finding back into my everydays life...) During the day you'll see and do plenty of pleasurable things and in the evenings you'll be surprised bygenial campsites (I had to correct my favourite one almost every day..) By the way, go for the "upgrades" - just lovely. I was lucky having Eugene and Julie in a "doublepack"as guide. CONGRATULATIONS dear head of drifters, you can be proud of you having Eugene and Julie working for you -I got to know both of them as professional, great cooks and just loved them as "buddies" - Julie & Eugene, a huge THANK YOU for you - you made my stay special! :-) TIA!!! Will come back.. with drifters!!
